SWAT team called to armed robbery in Forest Grove

The Washington County SWAT team was called to an armed robbery at an auto parts store in Forest Grove on Wednesday.

According to the Washington County Consolidated Communications Agency, the robbery took place near 3731 Pacific Ave.

As of 6:15 p.m., police and the SWAT team had the business surrounded with the armed suspect barricaded inside, Forest Grove police said.

Initial reports indicated a man came out of the auto parts store with a gun, threw it in the middle of the street and then retreated back into the store.

Forest Grove police said people should avoid the area. Pacific Avenue is currently closed between Quince Street and Mountain View Lane. The incident backed traffic up between Forest Grove and Hillsboro late Wednesday afternoon.

Due to the police activity, TriMet bus Line 57 is unable to service stops west of 10th Avenue in Cornelius and in Forest Grove, according to a tweet from TriMet’s official Twitter account.

No additional information was immediately available.
