Book Sale Friends of the Forest Grove Library is hosting a used-book sale during library hours to raise funds for activities.

Book Club l Meet at the Forest Grove Library at 7 p.m. to discuss “Serena” by Ron Rash.

Gem Club l The Tualatin Valley Rock & Gem Club is meeting at 7:30 p.m. Forest Grove Senior & Community Center, 2037 Douglas St.

Music l Freak Mountain Ramblers, Portland’s rock ‘n roll bluegrass band, will play at McMenamins Grand Lodge. 7 p.m.

Employment Fair l The American Legion is sponsoring the “Hiring Our Heroes” Employment Fair at Memorial Coliseum, 1401 N. Wheeler Ave. in Portland. An employment workshop for veterans starts at 9 a.m. in the Fountain Room, followed by a veterans’ hiring fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Approximately 160 employers in a variety of fields will be on hand. Genealogical Meeting l The Genealogical Society of Washington County will focus on “Canadian Research,” an often overlooked place when researching ancestors’ past residences. Music l Bluegrass with Slipshod will play at Urban Decanter. 7 to 10 p.m.

Film l “The Trembling Giant,” a documentary that looks honestly at why people hunt, and explores the everyday beauty of life at elk camp in the rugged Rocky Mountain wilderness, will screen at McMenamins Grand Lodge. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Screening at 6:30 p.m.

Fundraiser The Visitation Catholic Parish youth group is hosting a breakfast and bake sale to donate to the Anna & Abby fund. 8:30 a.m. to noon. Visitation, 4285 N.W. Visitation Road in Forest Grove. Ham, pancakes, scrambled eggs, apple sauce. $6 for adults, $4 for children and seniors, $25 for immediate families, children younger than 5 eat free.

Quilt Class Nancy Causton presents "Taking the 'ouch' out of Quilting." Nancy is a physical therapist, personal trainer and group exercise instructor.
