Sales goal to improve childhood literacy

Friends of the Cornelius Public Library will hold its semi-annual Used Book Sale from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Cornelius City Council Chambers, 1310 N. Adair St. in Cornelius.

Offerings range from popular fiction, mysteries, non-fiction and children’s books to coffee table books, home schooling materials and even jigsaw puzzles. Most items are $1 or less, with a paper bag sale from 6 to 7 p.m. (fill a paper grocery bag with books for just $3 total).

Funds raised will go toward special library programs that encourage children to love reading and that improve childhood literacy. The Friends also provide programs and resources to bring the community together.
