A well-maintained HVAC system has devices in place to prevent pests from getting in, but sometimes a very small gap can allow bugs or rodents to sneak in. Here is how you can keep pests from getting into your HVAC system and your home.

Tip #1: Make sure points of entry are sealed properly.

If you have noticed rodents, fleas, or other pests entering your home, call a pest control professional who will inspect your home and determine where the creatures are getting in. If they're using your HVAC system to get inside, the technician can fit it with protective screens or vents. In addition, our team at Hybrid can come out and pinpoint drafty areas in the home that could be leaving open spaces that allow for insects or other rodents to enter the home.

Tip #2: Keep moisture under control.

Make sure that there is no standing water or any puddles of water around your HVAC unit, especially near your condenser.

Tip #3: Have your ductwork inspected.

If you have leaky ductwork or gaps, creepy-crawlies can get in. You'll be wasting energy and your utility bills will increase.

Tip #4: Schedule annual HVAC maintenance.

Annual inspections allow us to determine any problem areas where pests are getting in.
