Rangers fail to find the net in loss to Indians

by: PAMPLIN MEDIA GROUP: CORY MIMMS - Estacadas Austin Eaton and Curtis Skoien try to stop Molallas Benito Ortiz-Mendoza during Thursdays 8-0 loss. MOLALLA — Molalla’s boys soccer team played a blowout game on Thursday against Estacada. The Indians took an 8-0 win.

From the start, Molalla controlled the ball and fired shot after shot on goal. The Ranger’s keeper kept the Indians from getting on the board early with a few diving saves and quick scoops, but given the amount of time the ball spent in Estacada territory, Molalla was bound to begin racking up points eventually.

Midway through the first half, Darian Baughman cut through Estacada’s defense and put one in the net. The rest of the game continued in a similar fashion, with Molalla cranking the pressure up as the clock ticked down.

Estacada’s Miguel Mendoza, Dustin Bay, Curtis Skoien and Austin Eaton fought hard for possession, but the team as a whole couldn’t put the pieces together to get Molalla on defense.

By the end of the first half, with the score 3-0, Estacada’s frustration began to show.

The Indians didn’t let up though. They came out in the second half shooting and pushed the score to 8-0.
