EHS Spring Play

Estacada High School presents “Play On” by Rick Abbot at 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, May 1-3, at the Estacada Auditorium.

Sale

There will be a “little bit of everything” sale 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday-Saturday, May 2-3, in the Whispering Pines Community Room, 525 N.W. Sixth Avenue.

Rummage Sale

The Eagle Creek Presbyterian Church Ladies Aid is holding its annual rummage sale 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, May 2, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at the Eagle Creek Presbyterian Church, 29455 S.E. Burnett Road, Eagle Creek. Doughnuts and coffee will be sold as well.

Farmers Market opens

Shoppers rejoice: The Estacada Farmers Market opens for the 2014 season from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Northwest Third and Broadway. The market will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays throughout the season. More vendors are needed. Breakfast and 4H Garage Sale

The Springwater Grange will hold its monthly breakfast 7-11 a.m. Saturday, May 3. For $5, guests may enjoy eggs cooked to order, sausage, pancakes, hash browns, biscuits, gravy, juice and coffee. There will be a 4H club sponsored garage sale during the breakfast. Springwater Grange is located at the corner of Wallens and Springwater Road.

Plant Sale

The Estacada Garden Club will hold a plant sale fundraiser for from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at the Estacada Public Library. Club members will sell plants from their gardens to raise money for the non-profit club. Coffee and baked goods will also be sold.

Literary Foundation meeting

The Estacada Area Literary Foundation will discuss funding requests for this quarter and plans for local support at 5 p.m. Monday, May 5, in the small meeting room at the Estacada Public Library. Public input and attendance is invited.

Watershed Celebration

The Clackamas River Basin Council will hold its annual Watershed Celebration from 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15 at the Tumwater Room in the Museum of the Oregon Territory, 211 Tumwater Drive, Oregon City. This year’s theme is “A Love Letter to the Clackamas.” The event includes a salmon dinner, silent and live auctions, photo presentation, awards for volunteers and partners, and an election for a Tributary Property Owner stakeholder group representative. Whitewater Festival

It’s nearly time for the 31st Annual Whitewater Festival. The event takes place Saturday-Sunday, May 17-18, in the Carter Bridge Area of the Upper Clackamas River. Competitions in a variety of whitewater sports such as drift boating, rafting, kayaking, inner-tubing and stand-up paddling will be held. There will be a barbecue and a performance by Countryside Ride from 5-7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17. For more information and competition details, check out upperclackamasfestival.org.

Quilt club meets

ESTACADA PUBLIC LIBRARY

Calligraphy Project

The William Stafford Calligraphy Project exhibit of Stafford’s calligraphic renderings, poems and writings will be on display at the Estacada Public Library from May 7 through June 4. The exhibit will be traveling throughout Oregon in 2014 in honor of Stafford’s 100th birthday.

Stafford is a former poet-laureate of Oregon. The show is presented by the Portland Society for Calligraphy. Computer tutorials

The Estacada Public Library offers weekly one-on-one computer tutorials on computer skills such as how to use email, Microsoft Word, social media, online security and eReaders. Half-hour tutorials may be scheduled between 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesdays. To schedule time with the computer tutor, call the library at 503-630-8273.

Seventh-day Adventist Church

Estacada Seventh-day Adventist Church is offering a free, all-you-can-eat breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 4. All are welcome.

Community Center

The Estacada Community Center offers free breakfast 8 a.m. to noon the third Saturday of each month.

FUNDRAISER

Run Wild for Ron

A 5K Run/Walk fundraiser will be held for Ron at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 1 at Eagle Fern Park. Registration is $25 and there is a $5 parking fee.

PFLAG

The next meeting of the Clackamas County chapter of Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) is 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 27 at the Atkinson Memorial Church, 710 Sixth Street, Oregon City.

Grief Share

The Grief Share group helps those who have lost a loved one find comfort and acceptance and to find the joy that remains in their lives. Confidentiality is required of all who attend. AA offers hope

The Estacada friendship group of AA offers hope and help for the alcoholic who still suffers. Meetings are held from 7-8:30 p.m. every Monday and Friday at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church Community Hall, 297 N. Al-Anon and Alateen

If someone’s drinking bothers you, Al-Anon and Alateen can help.

Meetings are available just a 20 minute drive from Estacada at Eastridge Church, 14100 S.E. Sunnyside Road, Clackamas.

Alateen meets at 7 p.m. every Tuesday.

Festival of Fungus

If you would like to help with the 2014 Festival of Fungus, a planning meeting will be held 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, in the Flora Room of the Estacada Public Library.

Summer Celebration

Volunteers are needed for the upcoming Estacada Summer Celebration.

Celebration coordinators are seeking assistance with set-up and décor 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, July 26; street preparation 7-9 a.m. Saturday, July 27; children’s art booth set-up 8-10 a.m. Saturday, July 27; children’s art activities 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 1:30-4 p.m. Saturday, July 27; manning the volunteer check-in booth 10:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Saturday, July 27; grounds crew shifts 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., 1:30-3:30 p.m., 3:30-5:30 p.m., 5:30-6:30 p.m. and 8:30 to close Saturday, July 27. Whitewater Festival

The annual Whitewater Festival is just around the corner and volunteers are needed. A tractor driver is needed at Big Eddy to haul rafts from the river to the parking lot 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday May 17 and from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 18.

You can simply sign up for however many hours you would like to volunteer for. The tractor is provided.

Blood Drive

The American Red Cross is holding a blood drive 1:30-6:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 13 at the Eagle Creek Grange, 24491 E. Eagle Creek Road.
