Ribbon Cutting

Grace House has been bought by a prominent investment firm and its name is changing to “Grace Place.” Grace Place will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony in observance of the occasion at 2 p.m. Friday, March 28, 380 N.W. Sixth Avenue. Call 503-630-5341 for more information.

Comment invited on Broadway Streetscape

Public comment on the construction timeline and undetermined design elements of the Broadway Streetscape project is invited during a meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, March 31, at Hitchin Post Pizza, 458 S.W. Second Ave.

Calligraphy Project

The William Stafford Calligraphy Project exhibit of Stafford’s calligraphic renderings, poems and writings will be on display at the Estacada Public Library from May 7 through June 4. The exhibit will travel throughout Oregon in 2014 in honor of Stafford’s 100th birthday. Stafford is a former poet-laureate of Oregon. The show is presented by the Portland Society for Calligraphy.

Sunday Socials

Fearless Brewing Company will hold Sunday Socials from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Sundays through May 18. The Sunday Socials will be a bit like speed dating, but more casual. It’s more about meeting people than romance. You’ll meet everyone regardless of age or gender. You’ll spend three to four minutes talking with someone, and when the bell rings you’ll move on to the next person. A casual social hour will follow. There will often be live music following the meetings. There is no cover charge for the socials.

Quilt club meets

The Estacada spinning and fiber arts group meets from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Fridays at Betty Veveiros CPA, 309 S.W. Highway 224.

ESTACADA PUBLIC LIBRARY

Computer tutorials

The Estacada Public Library offers weekly one-on-one computer tutorials on computer skills such as how to use email, Microsoft Word, social media, online security, eReaders, etc. Half-hour tutorials may be scheduled between 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesdays. ESTACADA SCHOOL DISTRICT

Schools plan kindergarten roundup

Is your child preparing to enter kindergarten? Bring them to a kindergarten roundup to learn about the process of starting school.

Clackamas River and Eagle Creek Elementary Schools will hold Kindergarten Round-ups Wednesday, April 2 in their respective buildings.

There will be a parent meeting from 6- 6:30 p.m., where you’ll have a chance to meet the teachers and support staff and to learn about the school, the kindergarten program and the registration process. There will also be a question and answer session. The kindergarten open house is from 6:30- 7:30 p.m., during which you and your child can visit the classrooms, tour the building and do an art project.

Registration packets are available in the school office 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday. Be sure to bring your child’s birth certificate and immunization record. Early registration is encouraged in order to arrange bus transportation.

PFLAG

The next meeting of the Clackamas County chapter of the Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) is 7- 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 at the Atkinson Memorial Church, 710 Sixth Street, Oregon City. Call Danny at 503-887-4556 for more information.

Grief Share

The Grief Share group helps those who have lost a loved one find comfort and acceptance and to find the joy that remains in their lives. Confidentiality is required of all who attend. The group now meets from 2-3:30 p.m. Mondays at Clackamas Valley Baptist Church. For more information, call 503-630-5484.

AA offers hope

The Estacada friendship group of AA offers hope and help for the alcoholic who still suffers. Meetings are held from 7-8:30 p.m. every Monday and Friday at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church Community Hall, 297 N. Al-Anon and Alateen

If someone’s drinking bothers you, Al-Anon and Alateen can help. Meetings are available just a 20 minute drive from Estacada at Eastridge Church, 14100 S.E. Sunnyside Road, Clackamas.
