Junior high students earn Incentive Day, get dance party

by: DANTE TORGERSEN - Jason Schaffer does the limbo during the Estacada Junior High School's Incentive Day on Friday, Oct. 4. Logan Tallmon (holding the pole) finds it amusing.

Friday, Oct. 4 was no typical day for Estacada Junior High School students.

The school held a dance party complete with a DJ to celebrate the students who had managed to stay referral free since the start of school years.

For the record, 97 percent of the schools students were able to attend the party.

Students who didn’t feel like dancing watched a movie and munched popcorn.

“I am thrilled at the level of responsibility, respect and safety (our school rules) that students are demonstrating this year,” Principal Tina Rhue wrote in an email. “I would be proud to walk any community member through our school to showcase what great kids we have,”

Referral-free students will earn incentive days periodically throughout the year.
