Summer Celebration brings art to the people

by: ISABEL GAUTSCHI - This years Summer Celebration had a lot of madcap fun. Kids enjoyed hula hoops while the Latin American folk band Grupo Condor played.People turned out en masse for Estacada’s annual Summer Celebration on July 26-27.

As of 3 p.m. Saturday, July 27, Michele Kinnamon, director of the Estacada Public Library, estimated that 80 children had visited the library’s booth to make puzzles, tambourines and other crafts.

Children were treated to several hands-on art opportunities at booths along Broadway.

Booths offered artistic curiosities of every kind. by: ISABEL GAUTSCHI - Phil Lingelbach, artist and chairman of the Estacada Development Association, enjoyed a prime vending space near the main stage. He showed off his hand crafted wooden spoons.Hand-carved spoons, blown glass nude torsos of women, henna body art and paintings were just a few of the art offerings for sale.

by: ISABEL GAUTSCHI - Kids got to test their circus skills thanks to Circus Cascadia.Circus Cascadia had set up an array of fun circus activities near the stage. by: ISABEL GAUTSCHI - Grupo Condor serenaded the Seattle crowd from the main stage.As bands graced summer celebrators with delightful sounds, children hula-hooped, tight-rope walked and attempted to stay up-right on stilts with the help of Circus Cascadians in festive costumes.
