Clara LaVonne Schuldt

May 25, 1925-July 26, 2013

Longtime Estacada resident Clara LaVonne Schuldt died at her home Friday, July 26. She was 88.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Clara was born May 25, 1925, in Sioux City, Iowa. She moved to Estacada in 1968 and lived there until her death.

Clara enjoyed cooking and gardening.

Survivors include her daughter, Dixie Campbell of Estacada; sons, Dwight Roane of Estacada and Dave Cleveland of Spokane, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her canine companion, Abbey.

Estacada Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Larry Parkison

Sept. 14, 1944-July 23, 2013

Estacada resident Charles Larry Parkison died at his home Tuesday, July 23. He was 68.

A memorial service was held Monday, July 29, at Estacada Funeral Chapel.

Charles was born Sept. 14, 1944, in Weiser, Idaho, to Floyd and Eva Parkison. He graduated from Estacada High School in 1963. On Nov. 21, 1970, he married Helen Spencer in Gresham.

Charles worked at various saw mills in the area and worked for Vanport Mill in Boring for more than 25 years before the plant closed down. He enjoyed photography and being with his nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years; sisters, Dorothy B. Ernst of Woodland, Calif., Donna Beebe of Winters, Calif., Delores A. Buchholz of Woodland, Calif., and Patti M. Rankin of Clackamas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Estacada Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Michael “Mike” A. Chittick

Jan. 1, 1954-July 3, 2013

Estacada resident Michael “Mike” A. Chittick died at his home Wednesday, July 3. He was 59.

No services are planned at this time.

Mike was born Jan. 1, 1954, in Missoula, Mont., to William and Eva Chittick.

An avid reader with an expansive personal library, Mike enjoyed intellectual discussions on everything from science to philosophy and astronomy to politics.

He was known both as a tough, down-to-earth outdoorsman and a big-hearted man with a soft spot for loved ones and animals.

A talented cook, Mike loved living on his farm and raising organic blueberries in his garden. He had a strong love for his country and served in the military.

Mike is survived by his son, Will Chittick; granddaughter, Grace Nichole; and sister, Lori Gordien-Case.

Estacada Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Wilbur “Wil” D. Reed

Dec. 30, 1935-July 25, 2013

Estacada resident Wilbur “Wil” D. Reed died Thursday, July 25. He was 77.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Wil was born Dec. 30, 1935, in Polson, Mont., to Wilbur and Leo (Forman) Reed. After he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, Wil’s career included professional drafting, mechanical engineering, teaching and running a small business focused on blade-sharpening services.

Wil was a member of several fraternal organizations, including the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Shriners.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Ovist; sons, Rick Reed and Roger Reed; stepchildren, Vincent Ovist, Patricia Swennson, Karen Smitherman, Nita Lestikow and Rhonda Ovist; and 10 grandchildren.

Estacada Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Wilbur Reed

Estacada resident, Wilbur D. Reed passed away July 25, 2013. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Wilbur “Wil” was born in Polson, Montana on December 30, 1935 to Wilbur and Leo (Forman) Reed. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, Wilbur's careers consisted of professional drafting, mechanical engineering, teaching and running a small business of blade sharpening services.

Wil was a member of several fraternal organizations that included Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Shriners.

Wil left behind his wife, Cheryl Ovist of Eagle Creek, his sons Rick Reed of Alabama, Roger Reed of Portland, his step-children included Vincent Ovist of Portland, Patricia Swennson of Tigard, Karen Smitherman of Vancouver, Washington, Nita Lestikow of Parsons, Kansas and Rhonda Ovist of Florida and 10 grandchildren.
