Community effort was deeply appreciated

We have completed another successful Adopt A Family (AAF) program, with our community and other caring people and companies adopting 138 families this year and giving necessary Christmas gifts to more than 661 people.

There are so very many people to thank for this, as it could not be accomplished without a lot of help and support.

To begin, we want to thank the Estacada Community Foundation for its willingness to support our goals and take our program under their nonprofit umbrella.

Our committee worked tirelessly to make this happen.

Thank you Mary Ann Bugni, Carla Austin, Jane Reid, Jane Troeh, Sue Campbell, Glenna Goos, Olga Dongvillo, Cheryl Alexander and Kathy Dawson.

Thank you, Jackie Najera, and others, for helping with translations; Janet Powers and others for helping shop and wrap; Sue Gummerson (plus others) of the Timberlake Job Corps, for organizing and bringing several shifts of students to help with muscle power to bring in and deliver gifts to waiting cars.

Thank you Cliff Hellard for all your hard work and Grier Cundill for manning the desk with Sue and Jackie, plus others.

So many others in our community supported this program with their kind hearts.

Figaro’s Pizza supplied food and drinks for volunteers for the three days we held the event.

Steve Adams of Estacada True Value Hardware adopted extra families when the need arose. Plus, thank you Kelly at the Estacada Community Center, for allowing us to hold the gifting there and totally disrupt your schedule for three days.

A big thank you goes to all of those who took time and shouldered the expense, for shopping and buying Christmas gifts for a family (sometimes a very large one) they did not know so that that family would know how much we care about them and wish them well at the holidays.

There were so many others who helped out, it is impossible to list them all, but we want to thank you all, for helping make our community a kinder, special place.

Happy New Year!
