Estacada High earns high marks

Editor's note: This letter was originally sent to Estacada High School Principal Scott Sullivan. It is printed here at Sullivan's request.

Dear Mr. Sullivan:

Right now in my Intro to Education class at Clackamas Community College, we are learning about what makes a school effective. I had to write an evaluation on how effective my high school was base on five factors. These factors included strong leadership, a clear school mission, a safe and orderly climate, monitoring student progress and high expectations.

After reviewing all those factors it made me realize how lucky I was to attend Estacada High School. All five factors were positively demonstrated throughout my years at Estacada.

My professor mentioned how she never even knew her principal's name in high school because he never left his office. This seemed so off to me. It shocked me because you were always so involved, and made relationships with your students.

The staff was always helpful and also went out of its way to make relationships with students. I want to take this time to thank you for allowing me to have such a great experience in high school. Estacada is a great school, and deserves a much better image than it has.

So, thank you again Mr. Sullivan. You and your staff have done a great job, and I appreciate everything you guys have done for your students.
