Sheriff’s Office asks for donations for Libke Family

Oregon City Reserve Officer Robert Allen Libke died of a gunshot wound on Monday, Nov. 4.

Police and fire crew responded to reports of a fire and an armed suspect in the 800 block of Linn Avenue in Oregon City on Sunday, Nov. 3.

Libke was one of the responding officers. Libke was reportedly shot after confronting the suspect.

The Governor’s Commission on the Law Enforcement Medal of Honor unanimously voted to honor Libke with the Medal of Ultimate Sacrifice on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

“A fund has been set up for slain Officer Robert Libke’s family. There will be some rough months ahead for them and any financial relief we can offer will be extremely helpful to his family. They will need time to heal without the complication of worrying about financial matters,” said Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Community Service Officer Sara McClurg in an email forwarded widely throughout Estacada.

Donations to Libke’s family may be made at any branch of the Clackamas Federal Credit Union to the “Officer Libke Fund” or they may be mailed to the Clackamas County Peace Officers’ Benevolent Foundation at P.O. Box 426, Oregon City, Oregon 97045.

Checks should be made payable to Clackamas County Peace Officers’ Benevolent Founation with the words “Officer Libke Fund” in the memo line.
