Outlaws third at OIBA Tourney
OREGON CITY Clackamas placed third at last weeks 16-team OIBA State Tournament, winning five of seven games.
The Outlaws blanked Southridge 5-0 in their opener, but then headed for the losers bracket after dropping an 8-6 heartbreaker to Oregon City in 10 innings.
Clackamas followed with wins over Canby (3-2), West Linn (5-3), Oregon City (1-0) and Beaverton (8-7), before dropping a 2-1 barnburner to Sherwood.
Sherwood won the state tournament, defeating Lake Oswego 5-4 in the winner-take-all title game. The Bowmen advanced through wins over Lakeridge (6-2), West Linn (10-5) and Oregon City (8-0), a 3-2 winners bracket loss to Lake Oswego, and the 8-7 losers bracket win over Clackamas. Lake Oswego defeated Aloha (3-1), Tualatin (1-0), Beaverton (5-1) and Sherwood (3-2), before losing to the Bowmen in the game that counted the most.
Oregon City went 2-2 in the state tournament, defeating the no-show McMinnville Grizzlies by forfeit and Clackamas (8-6 in 10 innings), but then bowing out with losses to Sherwood (8-0) and Clackamas (1-0).
