OC hosts OIBA Tournament


Oregon City is hosting the OIBA State High School Championship Baseball Tournament this week at the high school varsity and junior varsity baseball fields.

First-round games in the tournament began Tuesday, and the double elimination tournament runs through Saturday, July 26. The winner’s bracket final is set for 4:45 p.m. Friday; the championship game will be played Saturday at 1:30 p.m., with a second championship game to follow, if necessary.

Among teams entered in the 16-team tournament are: Clackamas, Oregon City, Lake Oswego, Lakeridge, West Linn, Canby, Sherwood, Tigard, McMinnville, Southridge, Tualatin, Aloha, Beaverton, Sunset, Westview and Reynolds.

Winners of Tuesday games between Clackamas and Southridge and Oregon City and McMinnville will meet today at 4:45 p.m. on the Oregon City High School varsity field.

Clackamas went 9-3 in league and tied Beaverton for first place in the Olin Division of OIBA; West Linn (12-0) won the Lolich Division; Westview (8-2) won the Pesky Division; and Lake Oswego (8-2) won the Murphy Division. Oregon City (20-14-1, 5-4) was the No. 2 seed from the Murphy Division.
