Cavaliers swing their bats


Clackamas High School baseball players have been putting up some pretty impressive numbers this spring.

Through play May 20, senior centerfielder Elliott Cary sported a .512 batting average and .598 on-base percentage, with eight triples, 22 RBI, 31 runs scored and 25 stolen bases. Senior infielder Cole Scruggs had a .379 batting average, .475 on-base percentage, 13 RBI and 18 runs scored.

Senior pitcher/outfielder Jared Bell had a .357 batting average, a .489 on-base percentage, 7 doubles, 20 RBI and 18 runs., and a 6-3 win-loss record with a 1.54 ERA.

Senior pitcher Taylor Stinson had a 7-1 record with a 0.857 ERA.

Heading into this week’s state playoff opener with Glencoe (12-15), the Cavaliers (19-7-1) were ranked fifth in the state.
