Rex Putnam High School graduate Matt Zeller has been named to the Northwest Conference second all-star team in baseball.

A junior in eligibility, Zeller this spring started in centerfield for George Fox University’s baseball team. He also started in the outfield a year ago, earning honorable mention all-conference honors.

This spring Zeller led his team in sacrifice bunts (13), was tied for the lead in stolen bases (5), tied for second in hit by pitches (8), and ranked third in on base percentage (.408).

He had a .328 batting average, with 45 hits, 24 runs scored, and 17 runs batted in.

His 13 sacrifice bunts led the Northwest Conference and was sixth in the nation for NCAA Division III.

Linfield coach Scott Brosius, who played baseball at Putnam, was NWC “Coach of the Year.”
