Youth track practices start April 1
Mustang Track Club and Rex Putnam Raptors Track Club will begin their youth track seasons with workouts and sign-ups on Tuesday, April 1.
Youth ages 7-18 from Milwaukie, Gladstone, Clackamas and Oregon City are invited to participate. Older athletes, in junior high on up, are encouraged to join the Putnam-based club, while younger athletes are encouraged to join the Milwaukie-based program.
The programs are open to beginners as well as experienced athletes.
Practices for the Mustang Track Club will be held through early July from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays at Milwaukie High Schools track, beginning April 1.
Practices for the Raptors program will be held through early July from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Rex Putnam High School track.
The registration fee for the Mustang Track Club is $50 and it covers membership in USA Track & Field, a club T-Shirt and insurance.
The registration fee for the Raptors Track Club is $65 and it covers a club T-Shirt and insurance.
Competition, which is on Saturdays, begins in mid-April and runs through early July. Milwaukie will host a meet at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 3.
Youth may learn and participate in almost any track and field event, including race-walk.
