La Salle, OC ranked high in girls hoops

The local area has some powerful high school basketball teams.

Oregon City, West Linn and Clackamas were ranked second, fourth and fifth in the state in last week’s Class 6A high school girls basketball coaches poll. South Medford was the top-ranked team.

A recent Class 6A high school boys coaches poll had West Linn, Lake Oswego and Clackamas ranked first, sixth and ninth respectively.

Class 4A coaches ranked La Salle Prep No. 1 in Class 4A girls basketball.

The OSAA power rankings had Gladstone and La Salle ranked third and sixth respectively in Class 4A boys basketball.

Through play Dec. 25, Three Rivers League girls teams had won 25 of 35 teams in preseason play against nonleague teams; TRL boys had won 26 of of 35 games.

West Linn (5-0), Crater (8-0), Century (5-0) and Hillsboro (5-0) were the only teams still unbeaten in 6A girls basketball; Lake Oswego (6-0), McKay (7-0), Grant (5-0) and Lincoln (5-0) were the only teams still unbeaten in Class 6A boys basketball.
