Shelby Vasconcellos-Mattocks continues to make waves in volleyball at Texas State University.
The freshman from Happy Valley was named Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Week and Texas State University Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 22.
A full rotation outside hitter for Texas State, the Bobcat rookie put up some impressive numbers in matches with Texas Tech and with the University of Texas at San Antonio, recording 25 kills, 22 digs and two blocks in the two five-set matches. She averaged 2.50 kills per set and finished with a .250 hitting percentage.
Vasconcellos-Mattocks was especially impressive in the Sept. 20 win over UTSA (21-25, 25-22, 25-23, 16-25, 15-10), recording 13 kills and 12 digs, for the first double-double of her collegiate career. She scored the final point of the match.
