Brosseau Gatorade Athlete of the Year


by: JOHN LARIVIERE - Oregon Citys Beau BrosseauOregon City High School senior Beau Brosseau has been selected the Gatorade Oregon male track and field athlete of the year.

The award is for athletic excellence, academic achievement and exemplary character.

A 3.8 student, Brosseau is headed to the University of Washington, where he received an athletic scholarship to compete in track and field. He plans a major in aeronautical engineering.

Brosseau was named “Male Athlete of the Meet” at the 2013 Oregon Class 6A State Championship Meet, as he scored in three events and led Oregon City to the fourth-place team trophy. Brosseau won individual titles in the javelin (206-0) and shot put (55-4), and he placed third in the discus (147-0).

Brosseau holds Oregon City’s school record in the shot put, at 61-1. Brosseau’s mark at state in the javelin moved him up to No. 2 on Oregon City’s all-time list for that event, trailing only Mike Hieb (211-2 in 1988).
