The return of warm weather also marks the return of The Other Side Reading Salon from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, outside in the courtyard at Gladstone's HappyRock Coffee Co.

Featured writers Jenny Forrester and Nicole Rosevear will read from their work at the event.

Jenny ForresterStarted last year by Oregon City author Nancy Slavin, the salons take place periodically as a way to highlight local authors, as well as bring in regional authors to the community. Hawthorne Books published Jenny Forrester's debut memoir, "Narrow River, Wide Sky," this past spring.

Nicole Rosevear"The memoir is a gorgeous study on place and placement," Slavin said.

Forrester's work is published in Seattle's City Arts magazine, Nailed magazine, The Literary Kitchen, Indiana Review and Columbia Journal. She's included in the "Listen to Your Mother" anthology from Putnam, and she curates the popular Unchaste Readers Series in Portland.

Rosevear lives and writes in Portland, the only city she has ever called home. She is a graduate of the Bennington Writing Seminars and has had stories published in North American Review, VoiceCatcher, and a short-story anthology from Portland's Forest Avenue Press titled "City of Weird."

Rosevear is a creative writing instructor at Clackamas Community College and is a member of the Clackamas Literary Review's editorial team.
