Lisa Marie Peterson, 57, pled guilty to murder March 13 in a Clackamas County Circuit Court and was sentenced to life in prison, with the possibility of parole after 25 years.
At about 3:48 p.m. on Feb. 11, 2016, Lisa Peterson called police after she shot her 59-year-old husband, Joseph Ben Peterson, in their Oregon City home located at 19450 Falcon Drive. Lisa Peterson met police outside of their residence where she was arrested without incident.
Police located Joseph Peterson inside the residence but he was already deceased. An autopsy determined Joseph Peterson was shot in the chest with a .38-caliber handgun.
At the time, a neighbor told KOIN 6 News that the two were an older couple who kept to themselves. "You never know what's going on behind closed doors," Megan Melonuk said.
The Oregon City Police Department with the assistance of the Clackamas County Inter-agency Major Crimes Team investigated the murder and forwarded their investigation to the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
