Social worker gets Clackamas County award

Her work at Rowe Middle School in Milwaukie feeds students, helps parents connect with services, improves che community.

Frequent visits by a hungry boy years ago led to an award from Clackamas County to a social worker whose efforts have contributed to improving Rowe Middle School in Milwaukie.

Evan King received the 2016 Dee Lewitz Award from District Attorney John Foote at a recent meeting of the county commissioners.

The biennial award goes to a community member whose sustained efforts at improving the quality of life make the county stronger and safer. It is named in honor of Lewitz, who was part of the Overland Park Coalition against Drug Crime. She died shortly after she received the award in 2015.

King is employed at the school in the North Clackamas School District.
