Know any amazing local kids?

Clackamas Review and Oregon City News employees are calling for community nominations of boys and girls ranging in age from that of an elementary school student to a high school senior to be considered for the honor of representing the North Clackamas, Oregon City and Gladstone school districts as an Amazing Kid in his or her community.

The selected Amazing Kid will be recognized alongside other Amazing Kids from communities across northwest Oregon at a luncheon at Adventist Medical Center in Portland on Thursday, Oct. 30.

Speaking at the event will be Dr. Robert B. Pamplin Jr., owner of the Pamplin Media Group, and former Olympic figure skater and winner of four gold medals, Scott Hamilton.

This special event is being produced with the help of Adventist Medical Center, in conjunction with its annual Heroes of the Heart awards.

Clackamas Review and Oregon City News staff will select the Amazing Kid based on the nominee’s demonstrated efforts toward improving his or her community.

While the nominee may be accomplished in academic studies, sports, dance, music and other disciplines, community service will be one of the primary criteria we will consider in choosing the Amazing Kid to represent the North Clackamas, Oregon City and Gladstone school districts.

How to submit a nomination: Please specify the name of the nominee, his or her city or area of residence, and provide a narrative of no more than 500 words explaining the nominee’s achievements as an Amazing Kid and why he or she should be selected to represent the North Clackamas, Oregon City and Gladstone school districts.

Additionally, please provide a photograph of the nominee and a telephone number where we could contact the nominee or his or her parent(s) or guardian(s).

Clackamas Review and Oregon City News staff will choose select nominees to be featured in articles appearing in this newspaper. The nominee ultimately chosen to be the Amazing Kid representing the North Clackamas, Oregon City and Gladstone school districts will be the focus of a feature story that will be published in a special section distributed in 20 Pamplin Media Group newspapers throughout northwest Oregon, reaching 425,000 community-minded readers.
