Police seize 9 pounds of pot, arrest California man
An Oregon State Police traffic stop early Thursday morning on Interstate 5 in the Wilsonville area led to the arrest of a California man after approximately 9 pounds of marijuana, hashish and other evidence was found in the vehicle.
At approximately 1:15 a.m., an OSP senior trooper and recruit trooper stopped a 2013 Kia Soul displaying California license plates and headed northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 285 for multiple traffic violations. The vehicle was occupied by two men, including driver Steven Jerome Bethune, 29, from Camptonville, Calif.
An investigation during the traffic stop led to the discovery and seizure of approximately 9 pounds of marijuana, more than an ounce of hashish and other evidence concealed inside the vehicle. Estimated value of the seized marijuana is $20,000, according to police
Bethune was arrested and lodged in the Clackamas County Jail for unlawful delivery and possession of a controlled substance. The 38-year old male passenger was not arrested and released from the scene.
