Edith A. Meritt
She was born Nov. 17, 1919 in Macksville, Kansas to George Monre and Sophia Pearl Della (Foster) Bolman. She was raised in Kansas and moved to Scio as a youth where she graduated from high school. She married Donald Meritt in 1937 in Scio, Oregon and they moved to Prineville in 1951 where they owned and operated Prineville Taxi for five years. She also worked as a clerk at the old Ochoco Inn. Prior to retiring in 1985 she worked for the State of Oregon Unemployment office. She moved to Madras in 1993.
She was a member of the Prineville Eagles Lodge. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, crocheting, knitting, growing flowers, cooking, camping, fishing, hunting, spending time with family and friends and playing bingo.
She is survived by her daughters Velma Lucille Wyant of Atascadero, Calif. and Marilyn M. Middleton of Madras; brother, Estel Bolman of Albany; sisters, Aldena Madarus of Nyssa and Lettie Randall of Albany; nine grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three siblings, one granddaughter, one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be held Wed., March 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Prineville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thurs., March 15 at 11 a.m. in the Heritage Chapel of the Prineville Funeral Home.
Pastor Willard Fenderson will officiate. Graveside services will be held Fri., March 16 at 1 p.m. at the Franklin Butte Cemetery in Scio, Oregon.
