ie Ruth Walters of Sweet Home and former resident of Prineville, died Thurs., March 15, 2001. She was 85 years old. She was born Aug. 10, 1915 to Palmer and Lillian (Gray) Potter in Newport. She married Delbert Barrett in Toledo, Oregon and they lived in the Willamette Valley and on the Oregon Coast for many years. They moved to Prineville in 1950.
Mr. Barrett died in 1953 and she married Edward Walters in 1954 in The Dalles. They continued to live in Prineville until he retired. The couple traveled to Yuma, Arizona during the winters and lived in Prineville during the summer. Following the death of her second husband, Mrs. Walters moved to Sweet Home to be near family.
Her hobbies included fishing, jig saw puzzles, gardening and reading.
Survivors include her daughters Lois Schaffer of Sweet Home and Sylvia Anderson of Pendleton; son, Wayne Barrett of Vequita, New Mexico; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and eight brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be made to the Bowman Museum, 246 N. Main in Prineville.
Graveside services were held on Sat., March 17 at Juniper Haven Cemetery.
