Just two weeks after winning a state title, Devon Fortier was at it again.
The Canby star won both sprints June 8 during the seventh-annual BorderDuel Track Classic at Wilsonville High School to put a few exclamation marks on the end of his phenomenal junior season.
Fortier clocked in at 10.98 seconds in the 100-meter dash, posting the fastest time in a field of 20 elite runners from Oregon, Washington and Idaho. He took second place at the Class 6A championships May 24.
The runner-up in the 100 at the BorderDuel was Columbia River senior Marcus Gaylor (11.06).
Fortier also won the 200 with a time of 22.00 seconds, edging Lebanon senior Brayden Childress (22.10) and Gaylor (22.20).
The OSAA championship he captured in that event at Hayward Field last month was the Cougars first on the boys side since 2000.
Junior sprinter Hannah Schweighardt represented North Marion at the showcase in Wilsonville, taking 19th place in the girls 100 with a time of 13.43 seconds. Hillsboro junior Anna Dean (12.18) earned top honors.
