Ben Crumley captured his second-straight state berth with a third-place performance at the Tri-Valley Conference boys golf district championships May 12-13 at OGA Golf Course in Woodburn.
The North Marion senior carded a two-round score of 164 to finish one stroke behind Molalla runner-up Andrew Daniels (163) and 16 behind La Salle Prep senior Austin Yeo (148), who earned medalist honors.
Crumley also led the Huskies to third place in the team standings with a 382-363 (745).
The district champion Falcons (652) and runner-up Estacada (698) snatch the leagues two team berths to the Class 4A championships, which will be held May 19-20 at Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond.
Crumley, who qualified as an individual, started the district tournament with an opening round of 85 that included birdies on the eighth and 18th holes.
Sitting in sixth place entering the second day of competition, Crumley birdied the fifth and 11th holes en route to shooting a 7-over-par 79. He surpassed three golfers on the individual leaderboard and earned first-team all-conference honors.
Crumley will aim to improve on the two-day 183 he logged at last years state tournament at Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell, where he tied for 31st place in a field of 81 competitors.
North Marion teammates Derek Jones and Tanner Scanlan did not advance to the 4A finals, but they received all-league honorable mention with their district tournament performances. Jones shot a 101-92 (193) to take 14th place, while Scanlan carded a 93-103 (196) for 15th.
Austin Barton and Nathan Jones rounded out the Huskies lineup with top-20 finishes. Barton logged a 100-102 (202) to finish at No. 17, and Jones posted a 91-113 (204) for 18th place.
