Swimming: Boys' relay squad, girls' soloists provide highlights for North Marion

The North Marion swimming team placed second on the boys side and third in the girls competition during a three-team meet Dec. 9 at Canby Swim Center.
The Huskies boys tallied 71 points in a meet dominated by Canby (184). The girls finished with 62 points to place behind Canby (141) and Molalla (76).
North Marions only victory on the boys side came in the 200-yard freestyle relay race, where Nathan Jones, Sebastian Powers-Leach, Kyle Torian and Andy Pine finished in 1 minute 46.49 seconds.
Pine and Torian joined Austin Dobaj and Noel Medina to place second in the 200 medley relay (1:59.25) and the 400 free relay (4:01.03) races.
Pine also took runner-up honors in the 100 free with a time of 56.28 seconds.
On the girls side, Katie Palmer recorded two of the Huskies three first-place finishes. She won the 200 individual medley in 2:32.30 and logged the best time in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:18.73.
Veronica Norris won the 100 backstroke race in 1:07.87.
Palmer and Norris joined Grace Durst and Kayla Parkinson to snag second place in the 200 medley relay with a 2:26.24.
Norris, Hannah Surcamp, Madi Holum and Livia Molodyh clocked a 5:23.04 to take runner-up honors in the 400 free relay.
Durst finished the 200 free in 2:24.27 to take third.
