The senior leads the Huskies at the Ash Creek XC Invitational at Western Oregon University.
Christian Parr led the North Marion boys cross-country team to sixth place out of 17 teams Sept. 14 at the Ash Creek XC Invitational at Western Oregon University in Monmouth.
The senior placed eighth in a field of more than 160 runners, clocking a career-best 16 minutes 47 seconds on the 5,000-meter course. His previous personal best was 17:05.17.
The Huskies ended up with 207 points, finishing behind Corvallis (60), Marist (85), Valley Catholic (97), Liberty (130) and Newport (157).
Other scorers for North Marion included sophomore Colin Barrow (35th, 17:51), senior Ben Hanberg (40th, 18:00), junior Elbert Giron (42nd, 18:02) and senior Grant Barrow (102nd, 19:34).
The Huskies only representative in the 3,000-meter varsity girls race was senior Hannah Surcamp, who clocked a 12:52 to place 45th out of more than 150 competitors.
North Marions season continues Sept. 25 at a 16-team invitational at Willamette Mission State Park, about 20 miles southwest of Aurora. Varsity running begins at 5:30 p.m.
The North Marion football team edged Yamhill-Carlton on the road Sept. 13, improving to 2-1 in nonconference play.
The Huskies, who lost to Stayton-Regis in their opener before bouncing back with a win over Tillamook at home Sept. 6, climbed above .500 for the first time this season with their performance against the Tigers (0-3).
