Last week to apply for talent shows

Talent Show:

The Clackamas County Fair Talent Show is looking for people who can sing, dance, play an instrument or another type of family friendly act. To enter, contestants no longer need to be a resident of Clackamas County, just a resident of Oregon.

There are three divisions: children (ages 5-9), youth (ages 10-17) and adult (18 years of age and older).

Cash prizes will be awarded for first through third places in the youth and adult divisions. Children's division will receive placement certificates and participation ribbons for all entrants. Applications are due to the fair office by Friday, July 11, at 4 p.m.

A completed application must include:

  • Description of the act to be performed.
  • The biography page completely filled out.
  • A stage plot if it's a group act.
  • Talent show auditions will be held Saturday, July 19. Acts should dress as they would for their performance during the fair. Music needed should be supplied on a CD – no MP3s, cassettes or ipods will be accepted.

After all applications have been received, acts will be assigned an audition time.

The semifinals for youth and adults contestants will be Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m. on the Grove Stage. Finals for children, youth and adults will be Saturday, Aug. 16, at 7 p.m. on the Grove Stage. If the three first-place winners are from Clackamas County, they will advance to the Oregon State Fair Talent Show. Otherwise, the next runnerup from Clackamas County will advance to the Oregon State Fair.

    Gospel Sing Competition:

The Clackamas County Fair’s Gospel Sing Competition has a new twist – it is now open to anyone from the state of Oregon, not just Clackamas County residents.

Any type of music is welcome as long as it is inspirational in nature. Original pieces are welcome as well.

There are two divisions within the Gospel Sing Competition: youth (ages 10-17) and adult (ages 18 and over). Cash prizes will be given to the top three placers in each division.
