Youth running club has resumed workouts
The Youth Running Club has resumed meeting this spring for kids ages 8-14. It is a free, community-based, recreational running club that meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-4:45 p.m. at the Ackerman track. Gretchen Keyser is the Tuesday coach and April Lesher is the Thursday coach.
Children are welcome to drop in whenever they can, and parents are welcome to run too. Parents should fill out a permission form in advance (the schools will have them in the main office) or come fill it out on the child's first practice. The season will run through May 22.
Marquis Hope Village sets annual Easter egg hunt
Marquis Hope Village will hold its annual Easter egg hunt Friday, April 18, beginning at 4 p.m. at 1577 S. Ivy St.
The event is for children ages up to 10 years old. In addition to the egg hunt, children can take a photo with the Easter bunny.

Cutsforths will have Easter event Saturday
Cutsforths Thriftway will have a special Easter program Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.
Children will have a chance to get a free photo with the Easter Bunny, as wel as treat bags.
Macksburg Lutheran slates Easter week services
Macksburg Lutheran Church will hold special Easter services. The church will hold a Maunday Thursday service April 17 at 12:30 and 7 p.m.; a Good Friday service April 18 at 12:30 p.m.; and an Easter breakfast on April 20 at 9 a.m., followed by an Easter festival service at 10 a.m.

Canby United Methodist set for garden signups
The Canby United Methodist Churchs community garden has begun taking signups. Interested gardeners can call the church office at 503-263-6419 for garden plot sizes, prices and to get a garden packet.

Free lunches being served at The Canby Center
The St. Vincent De Paul lunch bus is available at The Canby Center Thursdays bus is back in Canby after a six month break, stopping at The Canby Center every Thursday at noon. The meals are free and available to anyone.

Grad party planning is continuing as date nears
The 2014 graduation all night party continues preparations for this years event from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 30 at Baker Prairie Middle School. Volunteers are sought for a variety of roles.
Canby Adult Center in need of kitchen volunteers
The Canby Adult Center is looking for volunteers for several hours to assist with food preparation and serving. Volunteers will need to be able to work on their feet for several hours. The CAC serves meals Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from about 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The facility could use one day a week or one day a month help. To volunteer, stop by the center to pick up an application.
Agricultural composting two-day session set for NWREC
A two-day, hands-on agricultural composting workshop will be held on two Fridays: April 24 and May 1. The workshop is held at Oregon State Universitys new agricultural composting facility at the North Willamette Research and Extension Center in Aurora. The course is designed for agricultural professionals and agricultural composters and includes hands-on and classroom activities. Participants will learn about different composting methods, facility design and location, environmental and regulatory concerns, equipment for agricultural composting, developing compost recipes, using compost, and more.

Community garden bingo continues at St. Patricks
The St. Patrick Community Garden project will continue to hold bingo every Friday throughout at the St. Patrick Parish Center at 422 NW 9th Ave in Canby. There will be only one session in the afternoon from 1-4 p.m. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. Regular games and specials are played; cash prizes awarded, including $200 progressive pot. Proceeds will benefit completion of St Patrick Community Garden which provides fresh organic produce for food bank clients and gardeners.

Benefit concert will help county cancer patients
Providence Medical Center and La Belle U Wellness Spa are partnering for a benefit concert Saturday, April 26, from 1-3 p.m at 486 NW Third Ave.
The spa is celebrating its grand opening from noon to 4 p.m. and the concerts proceeds will help fund a nurse navigator for cancer patients in Clackamas County.
Performing will be Christina Cooper, Michelle Van Kleef and Tim Ellis. All donations will be matched dollar for dollar. Suggested donation is $4. Tickets are available online at www.lbuspa.com.
