The Canby Clinic has partnered with Cutsforth's Thriftway for a free health talk workshop the fourth Thursday of every other month from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Cutsforth’s Town Hall.

NM Backpack Buddies program hosting Mardi Gras breakfast

The North Marion Backpack Buddies program will host its initial “Fat Tuesday Pancake Palooza” Tuesday, March 4, from 4-7 p.m. at the Aurora American Legion Hall.

The event will have pancakes and ham, including gluten free pancakes and vegan sausage.

Cost is $5 per person with donations accepted. The Backpack Buddies program at North Marion Primary School provides weekend meal support for at-risk children.

Sunday auxiliary breakfast will benefit Meals on Wheels

The Canby American Legion Auxiliary will hold its third annual Meals on Wheels breakfast Sunday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. to benefit the scholarship program Sunday at the Legion hall, 424 NW First Ave.

Each year, the auxiliary supports the Canby Adult Center’s Meals on Wheels program.

Menu consists of choice of bacon, chicken- fried steak, sausage or ham, hot cakes, hash browns, eggs to order and English muffin. Beverages are included.

Cost is $6 for adults with children ages 10 and under $3.

Use the Fir Street entrance.

District 63 Firefighters plan annual bingo night

The District 63 Firefighters will host the annual bingo night on Saturday, March 8, at the Donald Fire Station.

The event will start with hamburgers and hot dogs at 6 p.m. The bingo games will follow the dinner.

Door prizes donated by local citizens and businesses also will be available.

Canby Adult Center in need of kitchen volunteers

The Canby Adult Center is looking for volunteers for several hours to assist with food preparation and serving. Volunteers will need to be able to work on their feet for several hours. The CAC serves meals Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from about 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The facility could use one day a week or one day a month help. To volunteer, stop by the center to pick up an application.”

Community garden fundraising bingo continues

The St. Patrick community garden project will continue to hold bingo every Friday from 1-4 and 6:30-9 p.m. at the St. Patrick Parish Center at 422 NW Ninth Ave. until fundraising goals are achieved. Doors open 30 minutes before the games start.

Proceeds benefit completion of St Patrick community garden, which provides fresh organic produce for food bank clients and gardeners.

Free mammograms available for qualified women

Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center will offer free mammograms to women between the ages of 40 and 64 years who have not had a screening mammogram in the last year and live in Clackamas County. The mammograms will be offered from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb 26.

Appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis. All applicants must meet financial criteria. To determine eligibility and to schedule an appointment, call 503- 557-2100.

Bingo continues at Canby Adult Center

The Canby Adult Center’s bingo game runs from 1-4 p.m. Tuesdays. Doors open at noon.

The first regular packet is $5 and the second is $3. There’s also a blackout pot of $200 and weekly raffles. Canby Adult Center is at 1250 S, Ivy St.

Aurora Unit 110 offers monthly flea market

The Aurora Unit 110, American Legion Auxiliary holds its First Saturday of the Month flea market Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The hall is at 21510 Main St. in Aurora.

Vendor tables are upstairs and down; admission is free but visitors are encouraged to take an item for the food barrel. Lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Canby Educational Foundation sets Spring Fling event

The Canby Educational Foundation will hold its annual Spring Fling Thursday, April 24, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Willamette Valley Country Club.

This year’s speaker will be award-winning Oregon author Molly Glass, whose novel “The Jump-Off Creek” was a finalist for the PEN-Faulkner Award for American fiction and a winner of both the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Award and the Oregon Book Award.
