STOCK IMAGE - Pamplin Media GroupTo the editor:

While I might normally agree with anyone decrying the greed of big pharma, I take exception with the Wednesday, June 21st opinion voiced by Pat Smith - "Parents beware of pharm's pushing this medication."

Pat is voicing the unscientific opinions of vaccine critics who can always find someone with a degree to support their claims. Further research by Pat would have found wide support by the scientific community regarding both the need for and effectiveness of vaccines, in this case, the vaccines for HPV.

I would urge Pat to broaden her knowledge by doing some basic research with the American Cancer Society and the Center for Disease Control. Voicing poorly reasoned opinions can certainly create ill informed citizens.
