Storyteller and folksinger Adam Miller will be at the Canby Public Library for a Dec. 9 performance

Adam Miller will be at the Canby Public Library for a show on Dec. 9.

As a child, Adam Miller's ambition was to learn every song he heard. Today, he has a repertoire of thousands of songs and performs all over the United States.

Miller, who is a mostly self-taught folksinger, storyteller and autoharpist, will make a return appearance at the Canby Public Library on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 2:30 p.m. to present a free singalong program: Traditional Folksongs of the Winter Holidays.

The performance will feature Miller's baritone voice, finger-picking on the acoustic guitar and autoharp melodies. Attendees should come with their singing voices ready, since Miller is known to get his audiences to sing along.

A concert promoter in Melbourne Beach, Florida said that Miller's stage presence "will charm even the most diehard iPod-loving kids or reluctant significant others."

As a curious child, even beginning in grade school, Miller began collecting old songs. Now he has collected more than 5,000 that he performs for audiences across the United States, traveling 70,000 miles a year and performing more than 200 concerts annually. He shares his tunes as a sort of oral tradition, the songs representing America's history.
