Aurora will once again transform itself as this year's edition of Aurora Colony Days is right around the corner.

STOCK PHOTO - Aurora Colony Days runs from August 11-13 this year.The 2017 edition of Colony Days will run Aug. 11-13 throughout the city of Aurora with plenty of activities to keep people interested and having fun.

Here's what's going on:

> 1K/5K Run Walk – Saturday, Aug. 12. The 5K walk/run starts at 7:30 a.m. at the Old Aurora Colony Museum (15018 2nd St.). At 8:30 a.m. the 1K kids fun run begins at the Old Aurora Colony Museum.

> Antique & Vintage Street Faire – This staple of Colony Days will be open Saturday, Aug. 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Aurora. Main Street will be closed to feature antique and vintage vendors selling their wares. Antique appraisals by Gary McLaren of McLaren Auction Services will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $5 per item. Proceeds benefit the Backpack Buddies program.

> Celebration in the Park – Papa Smoke will deliver their unique brand of musical entertainment from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, at Aurora City Park. The show is free. More details, page A14.

> Colony Parade – The annual Aurora Colony Days parade will be Saturday, Aug. 12, at 11 a.m. starting at the Aurora City Park on Liberty. There is no fee to join the parade. Check in is between 8:30 and 10 a.m. on the Main Street side of the park. This year's theme is "Community Garden."

> Art Show & Sale – The annual Aurora Arts Association's Annual Show and Sale will be held Friday, Aug. 11, through Sunday, Aug. 13, at the fellowship hall in Christ Lutheran Church. The show runs from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. An opening reception will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. The featured artist this year is Matthew Eveleigh.

> Family Friendly Beer Garden – This year's beer garden will be held on Main Street in back of the William Keil Building on Friday from 5 to 11 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. Brats and curly fries will be available from Ebner's Custom Meats in Canby. Children can have root beer floats as well. Parking for the beer garden will be available on Martin Street NE.

5 to 7 p.m. - Artists' Reception, Fellowship Hall @ Christ Lutheran Church.

Saturday, Aug. 12

7 to 11 a.m. - Pancake Breakfast, American Legion Hall.

7:30 AM - 5k Run/Walk, Run starts at Old Aurora Colony Museum.

8 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Vintage Street Faire, Downtown Aurora.

8:30 a.m. - 1k Fun Run for Kids, Run starts at Old Aurora Colony Museum.

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Artisan Farmers Market, Downtown Aurora.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Antique Appraisals, McLaren Auction Services ($5 per item).

Noon to 5 p.m. - Art Show & Sale, Fellowship Hall at Christ Lutheran Church (Free Entry).

11 a.m. - Aurora Colony Days Parade, Parade starts at Aurora Park on Main Street.

11 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Old Aurora Colony Museum Exhibits (Free Saturday Entry).
