The Canby Herald wants to help the community acquire an automated external defibrillator

These portable devices can be used in an emergency situation by the public to check heart rhythm and can send an electric shock to the heart to try and restore normal rhythm

To that end, the Herald has launched a fundraising effort to raise $1,300 in each community for an AED unit for the fire district.

Donations are being taken at Columbia Bank through the "AEDs Saves Lives Fund."
