County's CASA program will have Canby event

Clackamas County’s Court Appointed Special Advocates program is taking its orientation program on the road through the county over the next few months.

The program plans a stop in Canby on Tuesday, Aug. 26, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Columbia Bank, 1455 SE First Ave.

CASA volunteers are trained citizens appointed by a judge to advocate for children who, through no fault of their own, have been removed from their homes and placed in foster care. CASAs act as the eyes and ears of the court, gathering information in order to make recommendations that are in the best interest of the children they represent.

Their input provides the judge with information that is impartial and independent, bringing the common sense perspective of a volunteer who has nothing at stake but the best interests of the child.
