Canby Police are looking for the motorcyclist who evaded arrest Thursday afternoon after leading law officers on a high-speed pursuit down Highway 99E from Canby to Hubbard.

The chase started in Canby about 12:07 p.m. when a Canby patrol car tried to pull over a southbound motorcyclist on Highway 99E near Elm Street.

But as soon as the officer hit his lights, the cyclist took off, said Lt. Jorge Tro.

The cyclist didn’t let up going through the community of Aurora. He was doing well over 100 mph, an Aurora witness said.

Two Canby cruisers were in pursuit and two Clackamas County Sheriff’s cruisers were on their way to help.

But when the chase reached Hubbard, officers called off the pursuit.

With traffic congestion increasing and the speed of the motorcyclist, it was too dangerous, Tro said.

The cyclist was driving a gold, crotch rocket type motorcycle and wore blue jeans, a red shirt and black jacket.

Anyone with any information about the incident should call Canby Police at 503-655-8211.
