Kiddie Kapers Parade coming up

The 76th annual Kiddie Kapers Parade, the traditional kickff for the Clackamas County Fair and Rodeo, will be pitching in to help the local community.

The parade, set for Tuesday, Aug. 12, will collect food for the local food bank along the way. The parade is open to kids of all ages and shares the same theme as the fair — We’re Serving Up Fun.

The Holbrook family will serve as the grand marshals for this year’s parade, representing Boy Scout Troop 258 in honor of its 75-year sponsorship by the Canby Kiwanis. The Holbrook family includes three generations of Eagle Scouts.

Chairman of the event, Mike Boonstra, said participation in the parade is still free, but the club would like those who could do so to bring a can of food to parade registration to donate to the food bank, though it’s not required.

Registration for the parade will begin at 8 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Knight Elementary School playground.

Registration forms can be picked up at the Canby Herald, Canby Insurance & Investment and the fair office.

Judging will be limited to categories and ages listed on the registration form. Judging will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the parade at 10 a.m. All participants receive free admission to the Clackamas County Fair on the day of the parade.
