NMSD tabs new high school administrator

by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Brandon FrickeThe North Marion School District has selected its new staff member to fill the role of assistant principal and athletic director at North Marion High School.

School officials picked Brandon Fricke of Parkrose School District to take over for North Marion administrator Andy Jones, who will leave this June to become athletic director at Oregon City High School.

Fricke’s hiring was approved at North Marion’s monthly board meeting June 9.

“I’m very excited about his energy,” North Marion Superintendent Boyd Keyser said. “He has a good presence about him and he’s very enthusiastic.”

Fricke joins the North Marion staff after spending time at Parkrose Middle School in Northeast Portland as a wellness teacher and dean of students.

Fricke also was a varsity baseball coach for Newport High School and played basketball at Linfield College.

His role as an administrator with a background in athletics is what made him the ideal candidate for the dual-administrator role at North Marion, said Keyser.

“He brought the right skills that we were looking for,” said Keyser. “We needed somebody who had both of those areas, and that’s not always easy to find. You find someone who looks good in athletics or someone who’s done a real good job as an administrator. The combination of the two is a little bit harder to find.”

Fricke will begin his job at North Marion effective July 1.
