Wilco theft leads to arrest of two men
Canby Police arrested two men May 12 in connection with a theft at the Canby Wilco store at 197 S. Hazel Dell Way.
Lonney W. Burton, 40, of Portland, was charged with second-degree theft and possession of a controlled substance.
Brian Jefferson Warney, 37, of Happy Valley, was charged with conspiracy to commit theft.
Police say the men stole items worth a total $706, including a chainsaw.
Police said Warney parked his vehicle next to a chain link fence at the store and Burton tossed the stolen items to him over the fence.
Their actions were witnessed. Police broadcast their description and the license plates of their vehicle.
They were pulled over by police in Oregon City and the chainsaw was found in the backseat.
Burton drew the controlled substance charge after methamphetamine was found on the floorboard where he was sitting.
