Chamber hires CEO with Canby roots

Rick Anderson has been hired to head the Canby Area Chamber of Commerce

The Canby Area Chamber of Commerce has hired Rick Anderson to be its chief executive officer.

Anderson has been an assistant professor of business at the Hoff School of Business, Corban University.

The chamber chose him from about 30 applicants for the job. He succeeds Beverly Doolittle, who resigned Jan. 23 after nearly 14 years as the chamber’s executive director.

Previously, Anderson was director of operations for K & E Excavating Inc., co-founder of Church Security Solutions LLC and business administrator for Morning Star Community Church, all in Salem.

Anderson holds an MBA and Master of Arts in counseling from George Fox University and Bachelor of Science degrees in business administration, marketing and psychology from Portland State University.

As the chamber’s chief executive officer, he will focus on advocating for business owners, leading strategic business initiatives and maximizing the chamber’s efficiency.

“We believe the addition of Rick Anderson as chief executive officer will position Canby area businesses for success,” said Ryan Oliver, chamber president.

“His business experience and passion for serving is perfectly suited for Canby,” he said. “With a keen eye on the future and a solid grasp on what can help businesses thrive today, Rick will help local businesses seek positive solutions going forward.”
