Work planned for Canby streets

City planned work at Elm, Grant and Ivy streets has begun.

EC Electrical, a contractor for the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), has begun construction on a signal improvement project along Highway 99E in downtown Canby

The project includes the following improvements at the intersections of Elm, Grant and Ivy Street:

  • Upgrading traffic signals to include improving signal timing
  • Installing new signal poles - no more ugly span wires hanging over the highway
  • Constructing new ADA ramps at the four corners of each intersection
  • The contractor will start placing signs in the work area and work will begin in mid-February.

During construction, drivers can expect the following travel impacts to OR 99E:

  • Daytime lane closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Nighttime lane closures after 6 p.m. for placing signal poles and installing new traffic signals
  • Intermittent sidewalk closures
  • The contractor plans to work Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This schedule is subject to change. Work on this project is expected to be finished in the summer of 2014.
