A night of lights
Canby's annual Light Up the Night event is coming Dec. 6
Canbys annual Light Up the Night festivities begin on Friday, Dec. 6.
First Friday will occur in downtown businesses from 5-8 p.m. The holiday parade will begin at 6 p.m., with the tree lighting immediately following Santas arrival in Wait Park at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Cascade Harmony Chorus will perform music at the gazebo as the crowd awaits the arrival of Santa on the Canby Fire Districts fire truck. Santa in the gazebo after the lighting of the park will meet with children and hear their holiday wishes. The Catalinas will begin caroling throughout downtown at 6:30 p.m.
Participants in the parade can be a person, group, business, or organization that is interested in helping to light up downtown Canby. This year, Canby Main Street asks that all parade participants donate at least one can of food but more is appreciated.
Canby Kiwanis will have a table next to the gazebo to collect canned food from both parade participants and spectators.
Nominees sought to light city tree
Once again, Canbys Light Up the Night event is looking for someone to flip the switch and light the citys Christmas tree in Wait Park.
Each year, Canby Main Street asks for nominations of people throughout the Canby community who bring something a little extra special to everyone in their life not just during the holidays, but year round.
The deadline for the nominations will be Nov. 30. Judging will begin on the Canby Main Street Facebook page (www.facebook.com/canbymainstreet) Dec. 1.
