A routine stop along I-5 turns into something bigger for county cops
A traffic stop just off Interstate 5 Wednesday evening resulted in the arrest of a 32-year-old Canby man and the biggest meth bust in the history of the Clackamas County Interagency Task Force.
Officers found 21 pounds of methamphetamine with a street value of more than $500,000 in a Ford Focus driven by Omar Rodriguez, 32, of Canby. Rodriguez was charged with unlawful distribution and possession of methamphetamine.
Officers were alerted to the drugs by a Clackamas County Sheriffs K-9, helping provide cover for the Oregon State Police trooper who had stopped the car about 10 p.m. for a traffic infraction.
