Two council candidates ready for interviews
Two candidates have applied to fill the vacancy on Canby City Council.
The applications came from former city councilor Jason Padden and Todd Rocha, project manager for BnK Construction. Council members will interview them at the Sept. 18 meeting. The vacancy was created by the Aug. 18 resignation of Richard Ares, the most senior member of council. Ares cited his frustration with the councils scuttling of the city library project and what he saw as councils no mentality.
Padden, district sales manager for Sun Gro Horticulture, served on the Canby City Council 2009-11. From 2006-07, he served on the city urban renewal advisory board and street maintenance task force.
Rocha works as a project manager for BnK Construction Inc. in Gladstone. He also serves as civil service commissioner for the Canby Fire District and as an assistant coach for the Gladstone High School golf team.
Padden is the district sales manager-Oregon, for Sun Gro Horticulture. He is a member of the Canby Lions Club and served on the board of the Organization of Nurseries Greenhouse Chapter from 2007-11.
