Caboose spruce will feature Sept. 17 party
After 24 years of rainy Oregon weather, just about everything left outside could use a facelift or a new look.
That is exactly what Canby Historical Society has done for its favorite caboose. The longtime landmark was looking a bit shabby and weatherworn. Now, the caboose sports new paint and is ready to meet the public.
In honor of the makeover, the public is invited to a party Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. at the Canby Depot Museum, at 888 NE Fourth Ave.
Before moving to Canby in 1989, the caboose was in Hillsboro. Since then it has been an integral part of the museum and has many visitors every year.
The original railway depot was at the corner of First and Grant streets until it was moved 30 years ago and transformed into a museum.
The public is invited to enjoy wine tasting and refreshments.
